Volunteer and Make a Difference

Every helping hand brings a veteran or first responder one step closer to healing. From puppy raising to on-site care, our volunteers make everything we do possible.

Why Volunteers Matter

Helping Heroes Through Compassion

Our volunteers are the backbone of Service Peace Warriors. They make it possible for our trainers to focus on preparing service dogs for veterans and first responders living with PTSD, MST, and other service-connected disabilities.

When you volunteer, you’re not just helping care for dogs—you’re helping change lives.

“It takes a village to raise a service dog—and every person who gives their time becomes part of a hero’s healing journey.”

Ways to Volunteer

Join Us in Serving Those Who Served

There are many ways to get involved, whether you prefer working directly with dogs or supporting behind the scenes.

  • On-Site Support
  • Help with the day-to-day operations at our Eltopia, Washington facility:
  • Playing with and socializing puppies
  • Cleaning and maintaining training areas
  • Feeding and watering dogs
  • Assisting with basic care and kennel maintenance
  • Helping at community events and fundraisers
  • Community Outreach
  • Support our mission at parades, events, and public demonstrations.

Share our story and help more veterans learn how a service dog can change their life.

Become a Puppy Raiser

Raise a Puppy, Change a Life

Our Puppy Raising Program gives volunteers the chance to nurture future service dogs during their most formative months.

As a puppy raiser, you’ll help socialize and care for a puppy until it’s ready to begin formal training at our facility.

We provide:

  • Veterinary expenses
  • Training gear (blankets, beds, leads, collars, kennels, and bones)
  • Ongoing support and monthly health checks
  • We ask you to provide:
  • A safe, loving environment
  • Healthy, high-quality, grain-free food
  • Time, patience, and plenty of affection

When it’s time for the puppy to return for training, we’ll invite you to meet the veteran or first responder your pup will serve—completing the circle of giving.

“Few experiences are more rewarding than seeing the dog you raised change a hero’s life.”
